Biography
David Cumplido — also known as Bako — is a DJ, producer, sound director and event manager from Berlin, with roots in Chile and northern Germany.
He started at 17 playing and collecting vinyl. His father, a jazz and classical composer and guitarist, shaped his early musical touch.
David was fascinated by dancing and raves and began to immerse himself fully in artistic expression, organizing and playing at his own open‑air raves. By 19 he was already a known DJ in Hanover and landed his first big gig playing after Sven Väth at a festival.Residencies followed and he moved to Berlin to study Audio Engineering and Music Production at SAE.
Improvements in his production and understanding of signal flow gave him new inspiration to work not only as a DJ but also as a producer and sound director. He began creating sounds and music playlists for cafés and exhibitions.
In Berlin he helped found the Danube project with a group of friends and played many gigs alongside more internationally known DJs.
Over six years he honed his DJ voice at venues including Watergate, Wilde Renate, Weekend, Hoppetosse and Club der Visionäre, while co‑founding the Danube project, which developed into a respected events agency.
He later formalized his curatorial skills through vocational training in event management at Skatehalle Berlin. In 2022 he worked as club manager at Weltspiele, a cultural and club project in his hometown of Hanover — a cosmic space uniting music, art and community — where he contributed to shaping its vision and atmosphere from within.
In 2024 David became part of the Omana Festival roster and integrated his experience to help the project grow. He continues to release music, perform internationally, and is preparing new productions and an expanded European tour for 2026.
